What's Next

What is next?

Existing Market:
Step 1: The next step for me would be to educate people on the way the app would work. Also, I would want to implement this software onto Amazon itself, so it is available for anyone deciding to purchase glasses. It is rather frustrating when you want to buy a pair of glasses, but the frames don’t look good on your face. That is why I think it would be a great addition to have on Amazon or Ebay before you go to checkout.

Step 2:

* The last video I recorded was done though Skype, hence I apologize for the clicking and terrible attempt to edit the video.

Step 3: According to my interviews, it seems that it would be a good idea to make the virtual fitting have an option for side-by-side comparison. My first interviewee brought up a good point about wanting to see different frames side-by-side so she can compare the different colors and sizes. It would definitely help someone debating between multiple frames. It would also save a lot of space in your browser by limiting the amount of tabs open per product.

New Market:
*For this portion of the assignment, I did a mixture of videos/audios and phone interviews. I could not figure out how to record a phone interview, so I just typed out the responses the last 2 customers gave. Since their responses were quite short, it was easy for me to type as they spoke.

Step 1: I would want to target college students buying glasses, so I guess parents who are out of college would be the opposite of that.

Step 2: I think my product would create value to those who aren’t specifically buying glasses online. This is because many people might want to buy other accessories on their faces, such as sunglasses or other different types of eye protection.

Step 3:

*I interviewed my mom and dad as my last two interviewees. Both were phone interviews.

Question 1: How do you think this product might help to meet customers like you?
Answers:
Customer 1 (my mom): “Although I don’t wear glasses, this product would be really useful to me when I go shop for sunglasses online.”
Customer 2 (my dad): “I never like shopping online for glasses, but I buy a lot of goggles to go swimming in... this would be useful to know whether the full face goggles would fit around my nose and eyes.”

Question 2: What kind of adaptations to my product do you think I should make to be successful in the new market?
Answers:
Customer 1 (my mom): "I think seeing my sunglasses side-by-side would help me pick the right colors for my face instead of having multiple tabs open.”
Customer 2 (my dad): “Honestly, as long as the goggles fit my face, I’m not too picky about anything else. Colors would be nice though… but nothing too girly.”

Step 4:  When my dad mentioned that it could be useful for him when he buys swimming goggles online, I felt like I found a way to further my business. Instead of targeting people who buy reading glasses, I can make the product into something more variable. My product does not have to be limited to only glasses, but also sun glasses or swimming goggles.
In conclusion, I think interviewing older adults deemed beneficial. It made me realize that even though they might not need reading glasses, but they can also have other needs that can be fulfilled by my product. For example, buying sunglasses or swim goggles.

  1. Cindy, what a great idea! I have never bought glasses or sunglasses online because it is way too hard to tell how they would actually fit on your face. If you could get the technology to work this out, I think it would be phenomenal. Especially, if you offered this service at a price below the cost of return shipping, because that’s the biggest reason I won’t buy them online. Good luck with this!

  2. Cindy, I think virtual fitting for glasses is a great idea. This improves customer satisfaction as they can see what they would look like in the different frames. This will also reduce the number of returns opticals receive from online purchases. I used to wear glasses but I only had one pair and they never broke for the four years that I would sparingly use them when I didn't have contacts in. 3. Hey Cindy!
Super cool idea! I definitely have trust issues when it comes to shopping online. I can't count how many times I have received something and been very disappointed. This idea will give people more faith in the product they are looking to buy. Awesome job! here is my blog http://opportunistictimes.blogspot.com/

  4. Cindy, I love how you found the niche towards the end with swimming goggles, although I don't know how much people care how they look under water :). I don't wear glasses but I can certainly relate this to other things I buy. And as a huge online shopper, as that grows people will demand these types of things more and more. For example I just bought 8 ties online knowing I would only keep 2 or 3 of them and return the rest. What a pain in the butt that could have been avoided if I could have just uploaded my face and shirts to see how these ties would look. good luck! Rusty

  5. Hi Cindy, absolutely love your idea! I definitely have my hesitations on buying clothing and accessories on the web, and I think a lot of other people would agree with me too as well. That was a great way to switch from sun glasses and normal glasses to googles for swimmers or people who go SCUBA diving or even use them for recreational sports like Jai A Lai or skiing. 6. Hi Cindy! I think this is a wonderful idea. I wear glasses and I often find really cute designs online, but I kind of have a small face so I'm not sure if they would make me look bug-eyed or something. So I would definitely use this. Also, if you ever want to record a phone call you could always use this app called TapeACall. You can find it on the app store and it definitely is useful for phone interviews. I'm a journalism major so I use it a lot. Otherwise, I think you got some great feedback! You could even expand this to include other accessories such as hats and jewelry. Over all, wonderful job! 7. Hey Cindy, I think you did great. I primarily wear contacts and no longer wear glasses. At least not very often. I think that this however is actually quite amazing. Here's my kink:http://rdavidshay3.blogspot.com/2016/04/whats-next.html

  8. Hey Cindy,

I just want to first say wow!! You need to make this happen because as a person who wears glasses, I need this! I'm currently in the need of new ones but have to wait till I get back home to see how the glasses would fit on me. Again, great idea and I hope you're able to achieve your goals for this amazing idea.
